I Wore RAQ Everyday For A Week and Here's How it Went
By Ruby Staley
After taking my multi-way on a little holiday to a doof recently, I loved wearing it out of the water so much that I wanted to try styling some of my favourite RAQ tops in everyday scenarios. And it was much easier than I had even anticipated.
With a full schedule of work and social commitments ahead, I swapped out my go-to comfort bras and favourite crops for the week in favour of a few iconic RAQ designs.
Here’s to proving that well designed swimwear isn’t just for the pool.
Monday, WFH Casual
I was feeling a little off on this day after a slightly larger than intended weekend, so I went for something comfy, but also cute. Revolving around the Lava Crop, I paired the comfy top with my new favourite velvet maxi skirt from Sleeping with Jacques, a black blazer and my fuzzy slippers to work from home.
I feel like this look really nails the comfy but classy enough vibe that I try to achieve daily working out of my home office. The crop was easy to wear and meant I didn’t have to wear a bra because it already has one inbuilt – a win!
Tuesday, Sporty Spice
I am by no means a sporty person, but I absolutely love wearing my activewear on a day to day. Here, I pair the Black Crop which is the perfect stand in for a sports bra, with my favourite high waisted grey Gymshark leggings and an optional light layer on top.
Although I didn’t make it to the gym, I just wore this fit around the house while working from home and then took it for a little walk later on in the day. The crop proved comfier than many of my heavy-duty sports bras, with the right amount of coverage and supportive underwire – I’ll definitely be putting it to the test in the gym ASAP.
Wednesday, Dinner with a Friend
After a busy start to my week, I felt like wearing something a little loud out to dinner reservations with a friend of mine. Starting off strong, I wore the Purple Haze Multi-Way Top as a base for my outfit and layered this cute Djerf Avenue puff sleeve tie up blouse over top.
Without the bikini top, I would have felt super exposed in the boob region, so I’m grateful for the extra bit of coverage and support it provided. Pairing with gold jewellery, my signature blue sunnies and a well-loved pair of black denim jeans – this was my RAQ inspired take on ‘jeans and a nice top’.
Thursday, Comedy Show
Going back to the trusty Black Crop, I decided to pay homage to Naarm/Melbourne style and pull together an all-black outfit to go to a late-night comedy show. Layering a sheer button up over the crop meant I still felt sexy and adequately covered up.
Pairing with my favourite mini skirt of the moment by Karlaidlaw with a pair of black loafers and a matching mini bag, this definitely outfit felt the most like me. Likely to be repeated.
Friday, Beach Vibes
To prep for my weekend Byron trip, I pulled together this relaxed ‘fit with hopes that it would take me from the beach to a cute cocktail bar with ease.
The star of the show once again being the Lava Crop, I layered a simple white shirt over top and paired with some low-rise white cargos, white cap and simple slide-on sandals. Genuinely comfortable but still fashion forward thanks to the lava print, I planned to wear this practically the whole time I was at the beach.
Weekend, Going Out
For my Saturday night plans either going to a live show or out clubbing with my girlfriends – I hadn’t yet decided – some semblance of a ‘cool’ girl look was in order.
Wearing my fave Purple Haze Multi-Way again, this time with a mesh singlet over top to let a hint of the bright lavender colour peak through. Paired with everyone’s new favourite Ocray bleach cap, a Baggu side bag and a low rise stretchy maxi skirt, this look is cute, comfy and fun all in one.
